George Kilpatrick on Vital Mental Health During Fight For Racial Equality

Our very own George Kilpatrick is advocating for vital mental health during the fight for racial equality.

"Take care of yourself. Get the support you need because what we also know is when you don't get the support you need, it shows up in so many ways that aren't healthy for any of us."

Kilpatrick is also Vera House Men's Outreach Coordinator who recently hosted a Zoom conference called, "We are not OK! Black men healing and in conversation." which focused on mental health being vital during times of oppression and injustice. The conversation included male black therapists from around the country to give advice on local mental health facilities, awareness and encouragement to people of all backgrounds to listen to people of color that are hurting.

"This is systemic racism and oppression that's been going on for years and I think what everyone is now seeing is that this isn't right, this isn't fair and if we don't all work together to do something about it, it will never change."

George Kilpatrick hosts Inspiration for the Nation every Sunday morning at 9 a.m. on Power 620. And starting this Sunday, you can hear him at 10 a.m. as well for the Community Inspiration Hour Powered by the Allyn Foundation.
